Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage large-scale geotechnical and ground improvement projects, including Design & Build contracts, from design development through construction and commissioning. 
  • Act as the technical authority for geotechnical engineering matters, with particular expertise in ground improvement techniques such as vibro compaction, stone columns, dynamic compaction, surcharge and wick drains, deep soil mixing, grouting, and rigid inclusions. 
  • Plan, supervise, interpret, and critically review geotechnical investigations, including borehole drilling, CPTs, laboratory testing programs, and geophysical surveys. 
  • Undertake and review advanced geotechnical engineering analyses including settlement, bearing capacity, slope stability, liquefaction assessment, seismic design, ground deformation, and finite element modelling. 
  • Review and assess factual reports, geotechnical interpretive reports (GIRs), borehole records, laboratory test results, and Contractor design submissions. 
  • Lead the technical review and acceptance process for Design & Build Contractor submissions, ensuring compliance with Employer's Requirements, specifications, international codes, and project performance criteria. 
  • Verify ground improvement designs, methodologies, trial programs, performance criteria, quality control procedures, and validation testing results. 
  • Provide technical recommendations for foundations, piling systems, earthworks, reclamation works, and ground improvement measures for complex projects. 
  • Manage instrumentation and monitoring programs, including settlement plates, piezometers, inclinometers, extensometers, and performance monitoring systems. 
  • Oversee construction activities associated with ground improvement, earthworks, reclamation, and marine infrastructure to ensure compliance with design intent and project specifications. 
  • Coordinate closely with marine, coastal, structural, infrastructure, and construction teams to resolve complex geotechnical and multidisciplinary engineering challenges. 
  • Support the delivery of waterfront, port, harbor, marina, quay wall, breakwater, and coastal development projects where significant geotechnical considerations are involved. 
  • Provide technical leadership during construction, including review of NCRs, technical queries, method statements, temporary works proposals, and design change assessments. 
  • Manage client, contractor, PMC, and regulatory stakeholder interfaces and represent the organization at technical workshops, progress meetings, and authority meetings. 

Education and Licensure

  • Bachelor's degree in civil, coastal, structural or geotechnical engineering. (required) 
  • Advanced degree in civil, coastal, structural or geotechnical engineering. (preferred) 
  • Professional engineer licensure (preferred) 

Skills, Experience and Qualifications

  • At least 7 years (8+ preferred) of related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience. (required) 
  • Strong oral and technical writing skills. (required) 
  • Familiarity with international geotechnical design standards including Eurocode and British Standards. (preferred) 
  • Familiarity and experience on coastal and waterfront projects. (preferred) 
  • Experience with engineering software such as AUTOCAD, Slope/W, SAP2000, ALLPILE, STAAD Pro, MATLab, SWAN, SBEACH, MIKE21, and Plaxis. (2D/3D) (preferred)
