Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Marine Surveys

  • Proficient in conducting the joint survey of bathymetric surveys (single-beam / multi-beam) for dredging, reclamation, quay walls, rockworks, navigation channels, and seabed investigations.
  • Process hydrographic data to calculate volumes and verify against contractual tolerances.
  • Monitor reclamation fill levels, compaction areas, and settlement behavior of reclaimed platforms.
  • Proficient in reviewing the calibration surveys monitoring of tide gauges, benchmarks, and sound velocity profiles.
  • Set out quay wall alignment, front face, pile centers, anchor locations, and coping levels.
  • Conduct hydrographic and land surveys for marina basins, fairways, and berth pockets.
  • Set out breakwater and revetment centerlines, toe lines, crest elevations, and armor layer templates.
  • Verify placement accuracy of armor rocks, core materials, and geotextile layers.
  • Conduct periodic progress surveys to validate cross sections and volume calculations.
  • Perform underwater and above-water surveys for slope protection.

Land Surveys

  • Proficient in conducting joint survey of topographic and as-built surveys for coastal structures, piles, utilities, roads, and land reclamation.
  • Proficient in conducting joint survey of setting-out for quay wall alignments, revetments, breakwaters, utility corridors, and shoreline structures.
  • Proficient in conducting joint survey in monitoring settlement and deformation of reclaimed areas, quay wall structures, and marine foundations.
  • Provide positioning for pontoon installation including pile guides, gangways, and service connections.
  • Validate the positioning, level, and alignment of floating pontoons and their anchor/mooring systems.
  • Prepare marina layout verification drawings and occupancy/as-built plans. Review positioning support for marine construction (piling, deck-on-pile, rock placement, dredging, cable/pipe laying).
  • Perform as-built surveys of sheet piles, diaphragm walls, tie-rods, anchor blocks, and structural elements.
  • Monitor horizontal/vertical movement of quay wall sections during and after construction.
  • Verify contractor submissions including deflection monitoring and alignment control reports.

Data Processing & Quality Control

  • Process hydrographic data (tide correction, calibration, filtering, point cloud cleaning).
  • Process land survey data and develop accurate site models, cross sections, and 3D surfaces.
  • Validate survey results and ensure compliance with contract tolerances, IHO standards, and engineering requirements.
  • Prepare QA/QC documentation including calibration reports, instrument logs, and survey verification records.
  • Produce daily survey activity reports, field sketches, and progress summaries.
  • Prepare bathymetric charts, dredging comparison reports, quay wall alignment reports, and marina as-built drawings.
  • Maintain accurate and organized survey databases for audit and project record.

Technical Support to Engineering & Construction Teams

  • Support Resident Engineers, Structural Engineers, and Marine Specialists with survey inputs.
  • Proficient in verify and producing volume calculations of the marine works, cross-sections, and pontoon layouts.
  • Identify discrepancies between design and actual conditions and raise corrective action proposals.
  • Provide survey-based insights for design adjustments, construction staging, and marine navigational assessments.

Software/Equipment Proficiencies

  • AutoCAD / Civil 3D
  • Trimble Business Center (TBC) or Leica Infinity
  • GIS platforms (ArcGIS, QGIS)
  • Total Station operation (Trimble, Leica, Topcon)
  • GNSS/GPS surveying (static, RTK, PPK)
  • Automatic and digital levels

Skills, Experience and Qualifications

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in civil, marine, geotechnical, or structural engineering and five (5) years of experience, or a diploma in engineering and seven (7) years of experience, or equivalent combination of education, experience and training that provides the required knowledge, skills, and technical experience . (required)
  • Technical understanding of site investigation, construction quality assurance, and/or construction management procedures for utility, road, and building projects. (required)
  • Ability to monitor several different types of construction activities simultaneously. (required)
  • Experience with Windows based software applications (e.g. Word, Excel, Outlook, Access, etc.). (required)
  • Excellent writing skills and detail orientation. (required)
  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 20 kilograms unaided and 21-45 kilograms with assistance and/or proper engineering controls. (required)
  • Ability to speak and hear, stand, walk, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or craw. (required)
  • Strong willingness to work outdoors with interest in building a career in the engineering consulting field. (required)
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team, be self-motivated, and possess a strong work ethic. (required)
