Overview

Due to ongoing growth in our European business, we are now looking for experienced Senior Practitioner - Hydrogeology/Contaminated Land/EIA & Permitting to join our growing team in Stockholm, Gothenburg, or Luleå. The successful candidates will have extensive consulting experience in the mining, industrial or infrastructure sectors, ideally in one or more of the following disciplines: 

  • Hydrogeology 
  • Site Investigation & Remediation 
  • EIAs/Permitting 


Examples of assignments may include planning and execution of hydrogeological, geotechnical, geophysical, environmental or geotechnical investigations, risk assessments and remediation studies of contaminated areas, environmental impact assessments, environmental permit applications, and strategic environmental consulting including ESG and due diligence.
In addition to the industrial and infrastructure sectors, Geosyntec is heavily involved in the European mining industry, where we work on everything from exploration to remediation.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Depending on your level of experience - business development, including securing new clients, fostering long-term client relationships, and proposal preparation.
  • Leading meetings with clients, regulatory personnel, and other stakeholders to drive project success.
  • Project management, including planning and executing projects, managing budgets and schedules, ensuring quality and client satisfaction, and driving profitability.
  • Preparing technical reports, letters, memoranda, plans, specifications, and proposals that reflect innovation and technical excellence.
  • Mentoring and leadership of mid-career and junior staff, fostering a culture of knowledge sharing and professional growth.
  • Managing work to meet contract schedules, regulatory requirements, industry best practices, and high standards of care.
  • Occasional fieldwork e.g. multi-media environmental sampling/characterisation, drilling/construction oversight, contractor supervision, remediation system operations, maintenance, and construction (depending on your field of expertise).

 

Skills, Experience and Qualifications

  • A Bachelor's (required) or Master's degree (preferred) in geology, civil or environmental engineering, environmental science or a related field of study.
  • At least 7 years of experience working as consultant in the contaminated land, mining, industrial or infrastructure sectors (or an equivalent combination of education and experience).
  • The ability to collaborate and communicate effectively, both internally and externally.
  • Significant project management experience.
  • Experience with business development, including preparation of proposals (desirable).
  • Experience in independently leading and initiating new tasks in the field.
  • Fluency in Swedish and English.
